Sparrow's Nest CSA garden

CSA boxes

Our Edmonton-area Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) garden links local consumers who want fresh, organically grown produce, with a local farmer. Members buy a "Share" in springtime, paying for their Summer's vegetables when we need cash to start another growing season.

As the garden grows and produce matures, you pick up your equal "Share" every week, at one of two locations in Edmonton. The produce is washed, boxed and labeled. Sharers select from a menu board vegetables available that week: each week is different.

A typical weekly Share might include: bunched carrots and beets; potatoes; broccoli or cauliflower; kale and/or Swiss chard; onion, shallot, cipollini or leek; lettuces; pre-washed mixed greens; parsley; cabbage; peas or beans; radish; summer squash; tomato; strawberries; raspberries; rhubarb; fresh-cut flowers.

Produce doesn't get any fresher.  Our produce is harvested within hours of delivery, full of vitamins and other nutrients.

Sparrow's Nest CSA brings Edmonton families closer together, and brings us -- the farmers -- closer to the families who directly support us.

Sharers provide two days, between May and October, to help at the farm. Just two days. This helps keep costs "in the family", so to speak. On a work day, a group of six or eight people can help polish off a whole list of chores in a matter of hours, leaving time for sharing a meal, going for a walk, or just hangin' out in the hammock or around a fire. We also offer Non-working Shares, for people unable to meet a work commitment in the garden.

Shares this year are $795. If you are interested in joining this year's CSA, please contact us.
